Review: The Do's & Donuts of Love by Adiba Jaigirdar

"A pun-filled YA contemporary romance, The Dos and Donuts of Love by Adiba Jaigirdar finds a teenage girl competing in a televised baking competition, with contestants including her ex-girlfriend and a potential new crush - perfect for fans of The Great British Bake Off and She Drives Me Crazy!

"Welcome to the first ever Junior Irish Baking Show!"

Shireen Malik is still reeling from the breakup with her ex-girlfriend, Chris, when she receives news that she's been accepted as a contestant on a new televised baking competition show. This is Shireen's dream come true! Because winning will not only mean prize money, but it will also bring some much-needed attention to You Drive Me Glazy, her parents' beloved donut shop.

Things get complicated, though, because Chris is also a contestant on the show. Then there's the very outgoing Niamh, a fellow contestant who is becoming fast friends with Shireen. Things are heating up between them, and not just in the kitchen.

As the competition intensifies, Shireen will have to ignore all these factors and more - including potential sabotage - if she wants a sweet victory!"

Happy Wednesday! Today I am so excited to share my review for The Do’s & Donuts of Love by Adiba Jaigirdar 💖 Thank you so much to the lovely Team BKMRK for my signed proof, it’s one I’ll treasure forever!! 💖

This story was so much FUN! I knew I was going to love it as soon as I saw it was about a baking competition with sapphics but my heart was fully stolen when I saw each chapter title was a dessert pun! Puns are my catnip and were the icing on the cake of this great story! (Just in case you didn’t already guess, I am definitely going to sneak a few puns into this review, you batter not try and stop me 😉)

I really liked our main character Shireen, there was so many parts where I just wanted to hug her and I loved seeing her confidence rise despite having to go through the torte-ure of working alongside her ex-girlfriend who also joined the competition!

I also really enjoyed how Shireen was faced with the pie-lemma of pursing a new romance or perhaps giving a second chance to an old flame. Plus, it was nice to see some characters get their just desserts!

I loved the baking competition element to the story, it added a lot of drama into the mix and I felt like I was on the front lines of some of my favourite cooking shows! Also, the descriptions of the desserts made me so hungry, they all sounded delicious!

I love Adiba’s writing style so much, every book I read of hers I devour and leave no crumbs! And this book really takes the cake! This is the perfect book to add to your Pride Month TBR’s!

The Do’s & Donuts of Love is a sweet treat that was a pleasure to digest! 😂 It is one you DONUT want to miss! Set your timers as it will have finished baking (and be published) tomorrow in the UK!
